On this release of E.T.O., we’ve included two different releases of ResEdit™. The first, ResEdit 2.1, is a final release, with few known bugs. ResEdit 2.1 is the current APDA release. Use version 2.1 if you are squeamish about using beta software.
The second release, ResEdit 2.1.1b1, is a beta release. Version 2.1.1 contains some new features, mostly for improved System 7 support, and fixes to important bugs in 2.1 final. Because this is a beta release, use caution when editing your files with 2.1.1b1. See the Read Me file within the "ResEdit 2.1.1b1" folder for a list of new features and bug fixes in this release.
RESEDIT EXTENSIONS
The folder named "ResEdit Extensions" contains a resource editor you can add to ResEdit 2.1 or 2.1.1. The Read Me file accompanying the editor explains what the editor does and how to add it to ResEdit.
DOCUMENTATION
The ResEdit Reference book for version 2.1 is now available from the Apple Programmers and Developers Association.

Errata to ResEdit Reference For ResEdit version 2.1:
Page xii says that ResEdit 2.1 does not run on a Mac Plus. ResEdit 2.1 will run on any machine with at least one megabyte of memory running 6.0 or later, including the Mac Plus.
